SPRING SUMMER 2010 COLLECTION
‘Cool Effect Tailoring – Reflects the Heat Produced by Direct Sunlight’

‘Cool Effect’, the latest cutting edge innovation from the Lanificio Ermenegildo Zegna, is the first fabric to offer protection against the heat produced by direct natural sunlight.
The classic ‘High Performance’ woollen Zegna fabric is given an exclusive finishing & dyeing, which enables dark fabrics to replicate the properties of white fabrics, reflecting 80% of direct sunlight, where they would normally only reflect 20%. This cooling effect lowers the perceived body temperature by 10°C: for example, if the outside temperature is 40°C, the body only feels 30°C.
‘Cool Effect’ suiting fabrics are woven from pure Australian wool, at 17 microns diameter (1 micron = a thousandth of a millimetre), and weighs 200 grams per metre. Offered in a blue, grey or brown palette, with a choice of block colours, self stripes, window pane checks, micro weaves and pinstripes. The silhouette is easy, with a stylishly relaxed approach for soft yet formal summer tailoring.
- ‘Cool Effect’ tailoring reflects infrared reds, emulating the same reflective properties as white coloured fabrics.
- The spectrum of light goes from 0 to more than 1000 Nm (nanometres). Those over 750 Nm are Infrared rays, which heat and are reflected by the Cool Effect fabric.
- ‘Cool Effect’ finishing and dying, does not alter the fabrics handle which remains light, soft and sumptuous to the touch.
- ‘Cool Effect’ Blazers were first launched for the SS09 season.
“Crossover Fabric - The Finest Blend of Linen Wool & Silk”

Innovation and fine fabrics has been at the core of Ermenegildo Zegna’s ethos since the companies beginnings in 1910, as a wool mill in Trivero, North Italy. For Spring Summer 2010, Zegna continues to raise the bar and lead the market with new blends and heights of fabric excellence.
‘Crossover Fabric’ is an unprecedented summer fabric, weighing only 120 grams a square metre. 15 micron superfine wool (1 micron = a thousandth of a millimetre), silk of a 600 thread count and cool linen are artfully blended, creating an unprecedented fine fabric with an impeccable appearance.
The unique combination of the finest natural fibres creates a high performing lightweight, breathable, sumptuously soft fabric, that is crease resistant and ideal for summer suiting.
Ermenegildo Zegna summer suiting in ‘Crossover Fabrics’ have been presented in Madras and Prince of Wales checks, in varying tones of lilac, violet grey, sand and stone. The silhouette is easy, with a stylishly relaxed approach for soft yet formal summer tailoring.
