FENDI FALL/WINTER 2010

The collection is based on the intense subtle colors of saffron, teal, navy and bone together with burgundy, slate, chalk and black inspired by prominent American realist painter and printmaker Edward Hopper’s drawing.

Perfect layering-double coats, envelope jackets, sleeveless trapeze cape and gilet which work with everything – short or long, in suede, fur or knit.  Karl played with proportion in overlapping shapes and materials.  He also emphasized the varying short, medium and long hemlines because according to him, no length is “now”.

Bold collar and new flying sleeves are the new shape of the season paired with rich interplay of texture and color, volume and movement.

The incredible graphism of inlaid furs and patchwork reversible coats in sable, mink, fox and breitschwanz are state-of-the-art fur pieces.

The collection was Parisian, in that it had certain elegance, especially in slender, long fur dresses for the evening which seems weightless and flattering.

There are no gimmicks for the bags.  Fendi was going back to is roots: totes, hunting saddlebags, camera satchels.  Functionality is back in multiple timeless shapes in leather, ostrich, suede and the return of logo as imprimatur to the highest quality.

Footwear was a play on the sensible and utilitarian.  High-heeled booties in ultra-light corduroy-like suede, feature crepe heels and rubber reinforced tips
